What is GMAT ?

  • The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is an exam designed to predict how test takers will perform academically in MBA (Masters in Business Administration) programs. 
  • GMAT scores are used by graduate business schools to make admission decisions.
  • The GMAT is developed by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council), which determines what kinds of skills the GMAT should measure and how it should measure them.


What does it measure?

The GMAT seeks to measure four broad skill areas:

  • Analytical writing
  • Quantitative reasoning
  • Verbal reasoning and
  • Integrated reasoning (which embraces analytical, quantitative, and verbal reasoning). 
  • The GMAT test does not include any questions that measure your business knowledge.

How can I register for the GMAT exam?

  • You can go to the official GMAT website and register for an exam there as per your schedule preference.
  • GMAT can be taken once every 31 days. This includes test attempts in which the score was cancelled by the candidate.

What is the eligibility criterion of GMAT?

The eligibility criteria for the GMAT exam have not been officially stated by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), but the candidates must possess the following qualifications to take admission in MBA program of foreign universities:
  • Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized board or university
  • Candidate must be proficient in English Language.
  • There is no upper age limit to take the GMAT exam.
  • The candidate must be minimum 18 years of age.

What is format of the exam?

  • 30-minute Analytical Writing Assessment (one writing task)
  • 30-minute Integrated Reasoning section (12 multiple choice questions)
  • 75-minute Quantitative section (37 multiple choice questions)
  • 75-minute Verbal section (41 multiple choice questions)

What are the features of the exam?

  • The GMAT exam is relied on by more graduate business schools worldwide than most of the other exams.
  • It has been accepted by more than 6,000 business and management programs worldwide, for nearly 60 years*
  • It is computer adaptive test.
